Three Warren Police officers opened fire Friday and fatally shot a man who police said pointed a gun at them.
WDIV reports that that the officers were dispatched around 1:45 p.m. to a home near Garbor Drive and Ryan Road, just north of 11 Mile Road, for a call complaining about a young man assaulting family members.
“Officers gave warnings and the subject refused to drop his weapon and shots were fired,” said Cpt. Charles Rushton, according to WDIV. “It appears he intentionally came around, pointed his weapon at the officers and the officers at that point fired several times.”
Police said 10 shots were fired by three officers, WDIV reports. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
An investigation is ongoing.
