Dan Campbell after Colts game
Yes, it's time for extreme measures. Something — anything — besides just acquiring more talent before the baseball trading deadline on Thursday.
The Tigers have now lost 12 of their last 13 games. Miraculously, they're still in first place — but not by much. They lead Cleveland by 7 games and Kansas City by 8.5. If they continue at this pace, first place won’t be theirs for long.
So what to do?
►Bring in a psychologist. Clearly, a team can’t go from best to worst — like the Tigers have — without some of it being psychological.
►Bring in Detroit’s most spirited coach, Dan Campbell, to give the team a roaring pep talk in the clubhouse before a game.
►Bring in every religious leader — from a rabbi to a priest, a pastor to an imam — to say a prayer in the clubhouse.
►Bring in every famous Detroiter to the clubhouse before the game: Jack White, Eminem, Big Sean, J.K. Simmons — and whoever else is available.
►Bring up some of the stars from the farm system. What’s the worst that happens? They lose another game?
If this all sounds like B.S. — well, it might be.
But so is this losing streak. It's got to end, and now!
So at this point, anything is worth a try.
