Update: 7:30 p.m. Thursday -- The Tigers lost their fifth game in a row, losing to the Twins 3-1.

--------------------------

The first two games of the season — two wins against the San Diego Padres — triggered a giddiness among fans who had big hopes this season.

Then came some losing streaks.

It's too early for fans to give up.

Still...

The Tigers sit in last place with a 4-8 record and 3.5 games out of first. They've lost four in a row. They lost Wednesday night to the Twins, 8-6. They were down 6-0 after the first inning, and that was with one of their star, big-money pitchers Framber Valdez.

At this point, they look a lot like the Tigers in the second half of last season. In other words, lousy, unwatchable.

There are big question marks for three of the five starting pitchers.

Justin Verlander is on the injured list. Casey Mize and Jack Flaherty, who are capable of being very good, are also capable of poor performances. You never know with them, week to week.

The Tigers play the final game of the series against the Twins at 1:40 p.m. Thursday.

Too early to panic? Yes.

Too early to have concerns? No.
